We sell a lot of Koi, so why are we listing red common goldfish? There's a number of reasons but in order to keep this listing relatively short I give you the highlights. First of all, even the most expensive Koi are basically goldfish. They're all carp, the differences you can spend hundreds of dollars on a single Koi or nearly pennies on the goldfish. We decided to put this listing online because we get so many requests from new and experienced pond owners on how to make their pond more lively and full without breaking the bank. I have my own ideas, check them out below:
FIRST: You need the
brightest
colored fish you can get. If you cant see them, what's the point?
Second: When it comes to Koi ponds, size does matter. The reason we posted the first photo in this listing with the large fish is to demonstrate how well large goldfish fit in with their cousins the Koi. 4 to 5 inch fish that are bright orange/red will draw your eye almost immediately. These fish swims a pack, so you'll have a nice grouping of large orange/red fish swimming together.
Three: In my humble opinion one of the most important reasons you should add goldfish to your pond is because they are scavengers. Koi have to be fed pellets or they'll die, they are not naturally good scavengers. Goldfish on the other hand love to eat algae and just about anything they can fit in their mouth. They will keep your pond clean organically. They will eat left over Koi food as well.
